The Center for Civil Communications was founded in April 2005, as a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-partisan association of citizens.

Our goal is to develop and improve the communication among all social factors in the Republic of Macedonia regarding processes of wider social importance, as well as to monitor, analyse, and enhance the social, political, and economic processes in the country, mainly in the area of anti-corruption, local governance and economic development.

The Center for Civil Communications focuses its anti-corruption activities toward narrowing the room for corruption and promoting the principles of good governance, both on national and local level, by implementing the following mutually related activities: 

  • Monitoring and revealing corruption practices;
  • Recommending measures and policies for narrowing the room for corruption;
  • Enhancing the skills of the journalist to investigate and report corruption and the special role of the media to fight corruption in the country.

During its five year operation the Center has proposed hundreds of recommendations for taking measures for narrowing the room for corruption and has trained around 150 journalists from print and broadcast media on nation-wide and local level on investigative journalism.

We accomplish our goals through carrying out activities concerning the following:

  • Development and improvement of the communication among all social factors in the Republic of Macedonia, especially between the citizens and the authorities on all levels;
  • Improvement of the education and information of the citizens in compliance with the contemporary social needs;
  • Support and development of the media, as well as the media representation of the processes of greater social significance;
  • Training for improving the skills of the journalists and other media professionals for purposes of better quality informing of the citizens;
  • Surveying the public opinion, analyzing, and monitoring of the economic and socio - political processes in the country;
  • Support and affirmation of the processes of decentralization and the projects for economic development and prosperity in the Republic of Macedonia, and
  • Support and affirmation of the processes for approximation of the Republic of Macedonia to the European Union.
