Safeguards Against Corruption (2021-2024)
The project includes activities to reduce corruption and misuse of public funds of local governments by increasing the transparency, accountability and integrity of local institutions and implementation of measures provided in the National Strategy for Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest 2021-2025. The project is implemented with financial support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
It is expected the project to result in the following:
- To empower local CSOs through training, coaching, financial support and networking to conduct activities aimed at reducing corruption and increasing transparency, accountability and integrity of local institutions.
- To reduce corruption and increase accountability in public spending through monitoring current practices in public procurements, detecting corruption generators in procurement phases and implementing relevant measures for improvement.
- To enable public-private dialogue between local governments and SMEs in the process of policy making aimed at building trust and enhancing local economic development.
- To improve public finance management of local institutions through better and regular communication with citizens and the business community and improved internal rules and procedures.
- To enhance public pressure for greater transparency, accountability, and integrity of local institutions through establishing a platform of local media provided with the necessary knowledge and resources.
- To increase the quality of service delivery at local level through enhancing integrity and control mechanisms of local institutions.
