Public Debate on Green Public Procurement: State of affairs, Encouraging Implementation and Reducing Corruption Risks
(Skopje, December 12, 2022) At today's debate on "green" public procurement in the country, the Center for Civil Communications presented the initial findings from the monitoring of public procurement related to environmental protection and from the research on the (non)application of "green" public procurement in the country and the influence of corruption risks in the process. The goal is to contribute to the assessment of the situation with public procurement for environmental protection, the possible influence of corruption on the small application of "green public procurement", as well as the future measures that should be taken to improve the situation with sustainable procurement in the country, in general.
In addition to the representatives of CCC, Sabina Fakić and German Filkov and of FOSM, Dance Danilovska-Bajdevska, the panelists included the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Nasser Nuredini, the president of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, Biljana Ivanovska, and the director of the Public Procurement Bureau, Borce Hristov.
Participants included about 40 public procurement officers, representatives of the State Audit Office and environmental non-governmental organizations. The debate was conducted within the framework of the project "Adapting to climate change by preventing corruption in public procurement" implemented by the Center for Civil Communications and the Platform of Civil Society Organizations for Fight Corruption, and is financially supported by the Foundation Open Society - Macedonia.
